Infertility And Catholicism - The Conflict Continues

Infertility treatment proponents and Catholicism do not see eye to eye The Pope as the head of the catholic makes all the secular decisions for the Catholic Church. In the year 1990, the Pope decided that methods to treat infertility did not support the basic beliefs of the church and were an opposite of Catholicism. Another reason the church disavows infertility treatments are because they do not approve of spare embryos being created and then discarded. Catholicism believes that the moment an embryo is in existence, a new life is born. Infertility treatments only use the embryos they feel are viable and mature, the rest is discarded. Infertility treatments that do not involve the egg and sperm to be removed from the body are general accepted by the church. For example treatments like traditional Chinese medicines or therapy. A surrogate mother for infertility treatment is also against Catholicism.

What To Do?

There are not many options for you to choose if you are looking at clinical infertility treatments and Catholicism dogma. Some of the options open are to adopt, to try alternative medicine or even to go for procreation therapy. There are couples that have also decided to leave the church in their pursuit for children. This is choice that couples have to make.
