Obesity And Infertility: More Common Everyday

It is common knowledge that obesity and infertility are generally related. General statistics show that about 1 out of 10 people globally are overweight. In North America and United Kingdoms it is even a worse case. Almost 3 out of every 10 are over-weight. These figures are just basic guidelines to show the total population's status. How would it affect you directly is if you are obese, it severely decreases the chances of you conceiving. And that goes for both men and women.

How Does Obesity Affect Infertility?

Obesity is a quiet killer. It slowly brings down the health of a person, without any overt action, by the time the health issues are discovered it is usually too late. Obesity is not a hereditary issue. Yes if your parents were large there is a high chance that you will be big too. But being large or massive does not mean one is obese. This is assuming that there are no inherent structural problems with the couple. Obesity affects the body by causing lower levels of necessary estrogen. That impedes normal sperm and egg production.

Most often, however, obesity and the resulting infertility are caused by the high caloric intake of the person, surpassing the calories they can burn off.

This means that the person is eating more calories than they burn off through exercise.

Exercise is the best way to cut away unnecessary fats. Though it is simpler said then done.

It all boils down to how badly you wish to have a child. Most couples, if they found out that it was their obesity caused their infertility; they would do anything in their power to lose weight.

A quick trip to your doctor will provide you with the list of exercise for you to start with. Remember your body has been weaken by all that excess weight for a long time. It will take time for you to jump start your engines. But have faith and keep trying.

The advantages of being in a good weight zone.

Obesity and infertility issues aside, there are multiple reasons and advantages for a person to be in an optimal weight zone. Firstly your hormone levels are well balanced which will be good for any sort of treatments. Secondly your internal organs are not being over taxed to carry all that spare weight around. Finally you can have self esteem and peace of mind. That is something that no drug can give.
